hreflang on WPML, Weglot, Shopify and next-intl

WPML

WPML adds hreflang to the head for translated posts. A page without a translation gets no tags at all, and hreflang disappears when a theme or cache plugin rewrites the head. The check flags a WordPress site with WPML markers and no hreflang tags.

Weglot

Weglot injects hreflang for its translated subdirectories or subdomains. On Shopify, Weglot and the native Shopify Markets tags both end up in the head, producing duplicate and conflicting sets. The report lists the duplicates per code.

Shopify

Shopify Markets generates hreflang per market and language. Market URLs redirecting by visitor location turn alternates into redirects, which the cluster check reports as errors.

next-intl

next-intl sends hreflang as an HTTP Link header by default instead of head tags. Tools reading only the HTML report a missing hreflang. The check reads both and notes when the header is the only source.
